Nominations for the 2023-24 KU Common Book now open
Nominations for the 2023-24 KU Common Book are now open. All members of the KU community are invited to participate by suggesting book recommendations through the online nomination form.
The KU Common Book program is a campus-wide initiative that creates a shared conversation, builds community and encourages intellectual engagement about important issues in today’s world. The Common Book is not specific to a certain discipline and is instead intended to be flexible for its inclusion in a wide range of academic programs and courses.
The KU Common Book Selection Committee, made up of students, faculty and staff, reviews the nominations and makes a recommendation for selection. The committee’s thorough review of nominated books will take place during the fall semester, with a final selection of next year’s book announced in January.
The chosen text will be integrated into classes and co-curricular programming as a way to engage with the book’s central topic through the lens of a variety of disciplines. Common Book events will take place across campus throughout the academic year.
All members of the KU community are encouraged to nominate a book. Those not chosen this cycle will be considered for future years.
