The Firefox browser is not a full featured news reader, however it does offer some limited RSS functionality. Using the Firefox browser would be a good choice if you only collect news from one or two sites.
In order to subscribe to an RSS news feed using the Firefox browser, open Firefox and navigate to a Web site or blog that has a feed you are interested in. Here we see the New York Times RSS page, which shows available feeds in different categories. When you are actively viewing a Web site or blog that has an available RSS news feed, you will see a small orange square in the lower right corner of the Firefox browser. (see inset) You will also likely see the orange XML or RSS button on the actual Web site.

To subscribe to a news feed off a Web site you are actively viewing, click on the orange button in the lower right corner of the Firefox browser. If more than one feed is available for this site, a popup menu will expose the available feeds. Choose the category you would like to subscribe to by clicking on it.

The feed will show up in the Bookmark drop down menu in the Firefox Browser. Brief headlines will appear off to the right. You may open an article from this location or click on the "Open in Tabs" choice at the very bottom of the list.

The articles will fan out in tabs across the top of the browser with one letter introductions. How this could be helpful in determining what to read is questionable. The "Latest Headline" category is a compilation of news feeds preloaded into the Firefox browser that basically consist of general breaking news stories.

Mousing over the various tabs will give the barest essential of a headline. Clicking on a tab will bring the article up in full in the browser window.
