Snyder Book Collecting Contest Committee


Purpose/ Responsibilities: The Snyder Book Collecting Contest (SBCC) Committee makes all arrangements for the Contest, including publicity, judging, Award program and guest speaker, announcement of winners, and follow-up exhibit of winning entry collections.  The committee will initially review all entries and select the finalists for judging. 

Membership: The SBCC Committee members are appointed annually by the Dean of Libraries early in the academic year.  If possible at least one member of the three member committee is a continuing member. The committee is usually composed of the following:

  1. Spencer Library staff
  2. Other Library staff (1-2 as needed)
  3. Libraries administration staff and/or the Libraries or IS-wide media/public relations officer
  4. Oread Books representative

In anniversary years additional members are sought for help in coordinating the events

Frequency of Meetings: The committee usually meets1-2 times per months beginning at the start of the Spring semester. The committee meets more frequently to review and selects finalists and coordinate the event following KU's Spring Break. The all-day Award event is usually held in early to mid April.
