The University of Kansas Libraries
Serials Review: Letter to Faculty, February 2006
Dear Colleagues
After reviewing campus comments to a proposal submitted by the Libraries to modify the current plan for reducing serial commitments, UCSCL has now recommended that the Libraries implement the tiered approach to budget reductions (as described at http://www.lib.ku.edu/serialsreview/tierproposal012706.pdf) and the Libraries have agreed to move forward with it. Disciplines whose FY06 serial allocation is less than 75% of their total library allocations will have a lower budget reduction targets for FY07 than originally specified.
Your library liaison will be in contact with you and your colleagues shortly to work on a revised list of journal titles for cancellations in FY07. This will need to be completed by March 17.
We appreciate your feedback. Thank you.
Sincerely,
Barry Newton, Professor of Architecture and Chair, University Council Senate Committee on Libraries
Stella Bentley, Dean of Libraries
