Retrieve from Shelf Policies

Using Retrieve from Shelf

Retrieve from Shelf is a service where KU patrons (faculty, staff, and students) can request a material to be pulled from the library stacks and put on the hold shelf at the KU Libraries Service Desk for the patron to pick up. You will receive a Item Available email notice when your item you requested through Retrieve from Shelf is available for pick up. KU resident borrowers are ONLY eligible for the Retrieve from Shelf service if they need something from the Annex.

Retrieve from Shelf Requests

KU patrons can make a Retrieve from Shelf request by going to the Library Catalog and looking up the item they want. Once they have found the library material they want, they need to click on the "Recalls & Requests" button at the top of the web page. Then they need to login with their library borrower's number (last 8 digits on your KU Card) and last name (lowercase), and then select Retrieve from Shelf from the drop down menu and click OK. Complete the form and select a pick up location and submit.
