What is available
Most of the materials that circulates to our local patrons are also available
to other libraries via interlibrary loan. We can also provide copies of material
with the requesting library assuming the responsibility for copyright.
The holdings of the Kenneth Spencer Research Library, the University's archives,
regional history and rare books and manuscripts library (OCLC symbol: KFS),
are not available for loan. Requests for the copying of material may be sent
to us (OCLC Symbol: KKU) for handling or you may contact the Spencer Library's
Reader Services Department directly. For more information about the Spencer

Who is eligible
Interlibrary loan requests are accepted from libraries only. If you
are an individual you will need to contact your local library to submit a
request for material from the University of Kansas Libraries.

What the costs are

We typically respond by the same method that the request is submitted. Our
preferred method of communcation is via email. If possible please include
a departmental email address on your requests for correspondence. It is strongly
encouraged that you include your email address so we will be able to contact you
easily regarding overdues, recalls or general correspondance.

If there is something else we can do to help you with your interlibrary loan needs please contact KU ILL staff. We cannot guarantee we can do everything but we are willing to listen and see what we can do.

How can KU ILL staff be contacted
ILL contact information for other libraries interested in KU Libraries material:
KU Interlibrary Loan staff can be reached on weekdays (excluding official
state holidays) between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. CST/CDT. You may also email,
call, fax, or send a letter and we will respond as soon as possible.

Requests are received and coordinated through Interlibrary Loan/Resource
Sharing. However, staff throughout the University of Kansas Libraries help
provide interlibrary loan service to other libraries. Loans are sent from
Interlibrary Loan/Resource Sharing but copies can be supplied from this
location, our Art & Architecture Library, and our Edwards Campus Library.
Information on who supplied the copy can be found along with the copy of
the request in Ariel or Odyssey transmissions.
