The KU Libraries provides a variety of scanners that are available for patron use. Please see information for each location below. If you have any questions please ask at the service desk located in each library. If you do not find a scanner that meets your needs please let us know at Librsv@ku.edu

Watson Library

  • 15 Canon CanoScan Lide 30 scanners available for use on 3rd floor.
  • KU Online ID required for use
  • Flatbed scanners (no automatic document feeder)
  • Scan in color and black & white
  • Maximum Document size that can be scanned: 8.5" x 11.7"
  • Optical resolution up to 1200 dpi
  • Adobe Photoshop CS4 available on PC for editing of files
  • Express Scanning Station available for use on 3rd floor
  • No KU Online ID required for use
  • Scan in color, photo, grayscale, black and white
  • Fast, quick and easy on the book
  • Maximum Document size that can be scanned: 17" x 24"
  • Ideal for scanning fragile items
  • Can be saved in variety of digital formats including PDF and JPEG
  • No printing available at this time
  • One additional flatbed scanner available for use on 3rd floor reserved exclusively for use of Accessibility Software (JAWS and Open Book)

Spencer Research Library

  • One express Scanning Workstation (Bookeye) overhead scanner available with curatorial approval
  • For use with Spencer Research Library Materials only

Edwards Campus Regents Center Library has two scanners available for use

  • One HP Scanjet 3970 scanners available
  • KU Online ID required for use
  • Flatbed scanner (no auto document feeder)
  • Scan in color and black & white
  • Maximum Document size that can be scanned: 8.5" x 11.7"
  • Resolution: 2400 dpi x 2400 dpi
  • Software available for use with scanner includes ScanJet scanner 3970 series
  • One Canon CanoScan LiDE 30
  • KU Online ID required for use
  • ADA Scanner for ADA scan to read use only
  • Flatbed scanner (no auto document feeder)
  • Scan in color and black & white
  • Maximum Document size that can be scanned: 8.5" x 11.7"
  • Resolution: 1200 x 2400 dpi
  • Software available for use with scanner includes CanoScan LiDE 20 & 30, Scansoft Omni Page SE, JAWS Professional v.8.0, and OpenBook v.7.0
