  • Use boolean searching for more precise results:

  • Look at subject headings or descriptors when using databases to identify useful terms for searching.

Use the catalog to find books, dvds, and other materials available at KU Libraries.

General/ Multidisciplinary Databases
Use these resources as starting points to begin your research. Then use subject-specific databases for more in-depth research.

Academic Search Premier
Academic Search Premier (ASP) contains indexing and abstracts for more than 8,200 journals, with full text for more than 4,500 of those titles. Academic Search Premier contains unmatched full text coverage in the social sciences, humanities, and sciences.

JSTOR
Provides image and full-text online access of core academic journals in a variety of disciplines in the sciences, social sciences, and humanities. It does not include recent publications; the newest articles are generally from three or four years ago.

Web of Science
Indexes and abstracts citations in research journals across the disciplinary spectrum. Online version of: Arts and humanities citation index (1975-present); Science citation index (1900-present); and Social sciences citation index (1956-present). Use to conduct cited reference seraches.

Wilson OmniFile full text select
Provides indexing, abstracting and full-text content to journal articles in a variety of disciplines.

Political Science Databases
Use the following resources to find research related to Political Science.

Worldwide Political Science Abstracts
Abstracts and indexes journals in political science, international relations, law, public administration and policy, including the merged backfile of Political Science Abstracts and ABC POL SCI. Some full-text linking. Coverage 1975 - .

PAIS International
Contains references to journal articles, books, government documents, statistical directories, grey literature, research reports, conference reports, publications of international agencies, microfiche, Internet material, and more about public policy and work affairs.

Other Disciplines
The following is a link to databases by subject. Identify the subject-area of you topic and search those resources for a more complete literature review.

KU Research By Subject
Find database and web site guides for all other disciplines (i.e. sociology, education, health, etc).
Tip: expand the headings (i.e. social sciences, humanities, etc) by clicking on the + to find the specific disciplines (education, pyschology, etc.).
