Preservation Department Missions

Academic library staff collect, preserve, and provide access to library materials for present and future users. Preservation Department staff aim to further these missions by:

  • Promoting long-term access to library collections through the use of treatment, rebinding, and reformatting
  • Educating library staff and the public to help preserve library materials
  • Partnering with subject specialists to factor in preservation concerns as selection decisions are made
  • Working cooperatively with other academic preservation departments to further the collective goals of preservation as a profession
