Preservation Department Missions
Academic
library staff collect, preserve, and provide access to library materials
for present and future users. Preservation Department staff aim to further
these missions by:
- Promoting long-term
access to library collections through the use of treatment, rebinding, and
reformatting
- Educating library
staff and the public to help preserve library materials
- Partnering with
subject specialists to factor in preservation concerns as selection decisions
are made
- Working cooperatively with other academic preservation departments to
further the collective goals of preservation as a profession
