KU Libraries Announces Librarian Awards
On March 16, KU Dean of Libraries Lorraine J. Haricombe announced that Judith Emde was named the 2007 Budig Distinguished Librarian and Jana Krentz received the Mary McCorison Rosenbloom Teaching Award.
The Gretchen and Gene A. Budig Award recognizes recent achievements in professional service and scholarship as well as reputation among professional colleagues. Emde, librarian II for E-resources/technical services, is a worthy recipient. Since joining KU Libraries in 1986, Emde has served as a reference librarian, instructor and science bibliographer before embarking on her current role. She has shared her expertise through several publications and has participated in many poster sessions and presentations.
Krentz, librarian II, is the first recipient of the new Mary McCorison Rosenbloom Teaching Award, which recognizes the design and implementation of exemplary instructional service program. Krentz has extensively promoted and incorporated information literacy instruction within Latin American Studies and the Department of Spanish and Portuguese, and she is solely responsible for the instruction of a required course in the Latin American Studies MA program. Krentz joined KU Libraries in 1996 and has served as bibliographer for women's studies, religion and Germanic studies. She currently coordinates International Programs and Cultures and is the head of the Spain, Portugal and Latin America department.
