Posted March 2, 2011
The University of Kansas Libraries are accepting entries for the 55th annual Snyder Book Collecting Contest. All KU students are eligible to enter.
The contest features $2,200 in cash awards generated by the Snyder Book Collecting Contest fund at KU Endowment, plus gift cards donated by Jayhawk Ink.
This year for the first time, digital objects and non-print materials normally collected by libraries may be submitted as collections or as part of collections with books.
Contest judges will include a former prizewinner. Based on entries, first place, second place and two honorable mentions are possible in undergraduate and graduate divisions.
The entry deadline is 5 p.m. Wednesday, March 30. To learn more about contest details and rules, visit www.lib.ku.edu/snyder or contact Kristin Zachrel at kaz@ku.edu or 785-864-8897.
The Snyder Book Collecting Contest awards program will be at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, April 14, in Watson Library.
The event, which is free and open to the public, will feature a reception and opportunity to view student collections from 5:30 to 6 p.m. John Tibbetts, professor of film and media studies at KU, will present the awards at 6 p.m.
