Brief outages of KU Libraries online services scheduled this week

Updated October 13, 2010

Several KU Libraries services will be offline briefly Wednesday and Thursday morning for maintenance, and the KU Libraries' catalog will be available in read-only mode Wednesday through Monday morning (10/13 to 10/18).

The following services will be affected:

KU Libraries' catalog and related services

The KU Libraries’ catalog will have a brief outage beginning at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, October 13 (note new time).  Following the outage, the catalog will be in read-only mode during an upgrade to the software until Monday, October 18.The Voyager integrated library system will also be unavailable to staff during the upgrade. Services will be affected in several ways during the upgrade period (10/13 - 10/18):

  • Patrons can look up materials, but they will be unable to place requests or renew library materials online.
  • Patrons can still check out and renew items at library service desks. Checkout may take longer; we apologize for the inconvenience.
  • If you receive an Item Available Notice by email and want to pick it up during the upgrade period, please print out and bring the email notice with you for faster service.
  • If you need to pay fines or fees during the upgrade period, please print out and bring the Fines and Fees Billing email notice with you for faster service.

KU Libraries website

The main KU Libraries’ website (www.lib.ku.edu) and the Spencer Library website (spencer.lib.ku.edu) will be unavailable for approximately one hour during a server upgrade on Thursday, October 14, between 5 am and 5 pm. During the time the sites are unavailable, users will receive a notification that the websites are currently undergoing maintenance.
