Media Facilities

The Joe and Joyce Hale Media System features a staff-mediated console with playback equipment. Users requesting media at the Media and Reserve Desk are assigned to specific workstations at one of 28 media carrels, the seminar room (class or meetings only), or the group study room. Audio and video playback are controlled at the individual workstations via remote control. Audio tracks may be recorded by users for repeated listening at their workstations through mini-CD players that are permanently installed in the media carrels and the group study room. Most carrels include a 61-key Korg Triton music keyboard and a MIDI interface. A number of media carrels are also equipped with computers featuring Finale 2008, Sibelius 5, and Microsoft Office Suite 2007.

Sound recordings and videorecordings circulate to faculty and graduate students for two weeks, and to undergraduate students for four hours (in-library use only). All other use of sound recordings and videorecordings is in-library use only. All of the Library's sound and video recordings are listed in the online catalog. Some of the recordings and videos in the Sound Archive are listed in the online catalog. However, please check with the music librarians about holdings that are not yet listed in the online catalog.
