PRIMARY INDEXES
MLA International Bibliography (ERL) - The MLA Bibliography covers the years 1963 to the present and includes citations to journal articles from more than 3000 journals, monographs, essays, and dissertations related to research in all modern languages and literatures, literary theory, theatre, film and cultural studies.
HAPI Online (WWW) - The Hispanic American Periodicals Index contains citations to articles book reviews, documents, original literary works, and other materials appearing in more than 400 social science and humanities journals published throughout the world. The hardcopy is located in the Reference Stacks.
HLAS - The Handbook of Latin American Studies is a selective, annotated subject bibliography of journal articles and monographs in the humanities and social sciences. Available in three formats:
ADDITIONAL INDEXES
Dissertation Abstracts (CDROM) - contains citations and abstracts from all subject areas for dissertations. Covers 1861 to date.
Expanded Academic ASAP (IAC)- includes citations to journal articles and book reviews. Full text articles are available in many cases.
Info-Latinoamerica (WWW)- Bibliographic database that covers business, economics, politics, and related social and cultural issues in Latin America. Many of its records, beginning with 1995, contain full text from the original source, the remainder include indexing and abstracts only. Info- Latinoamerica is compiled from over 1,500 leading international and domestic newspapers, journals, news magazines, newsletters, and other sources. Approximately 15,000 records are added per year. Dates from 1988.
¡Informe! Revistas en Español (IAC) - (Available in August). IAC database provides indexing and full-text access to 60 Spanish language magazines and 100 pamphlets. Includes the most popular and well-read titles among Hispanic library users. Citation titles in both English and Spanish.
Latin American Database (WWW) - LADB is a searchable online index of reports and news on a variety of political, economic and social issues.
WorldCat (FirstSearch) - contains more than 32 million records describing items owned by the KU Libraries and libraries around the world. Includes records for books, films and slides, journals and newspapers (NOT individual articles), manuscripts, maps, musical scores, sound recordings, and videotapes.
Academic Universe Lexis-Nexis (WWW) - Information on current events, sports, business, economics, and reference information for Spain and Latin America. Full text of selected newspaper articles and a foreign language news section.
Arts & Humanities Search (First Search) - Indexes articles from leading arts and humanities journals. Contains articles and book reviews.
Gale Literary Databases - (WWW)
World News Connection (WWW) - Online news service that offers an extensive array of translated and English-language news and information. Particularly effective in its coverage of local media sources for Latin America and Spain.
ELECTRONIC JOURNALS
JSTOR - a full text database of many core academic journals in a variety of disciplines.
Project Muse (WWW) - contains electronic editions of 46 journals in the humanities, social sciences, and mathematics, published by the Johns Hopkins University Press since 1995. Since late 1999, Project Muse has been adding 51 additional journals from nine other university presses: Carnegie-Mellon, Duke, Indiana, MIT, Oxford, Pennsylvania State, Hawaii, Texas, and Wisconsin. Excellent search engine. Full text articles.
