PRIMARY ELECTRONIC DATABASES

HAPI Online (WWW) - The Hispanic American Periodicals Index contains citations to articles, book reviews, documents, original literary works, and other materials appearing in more than 400 social science and humanities journals published throughout the world. The hardcopy is located in the Reference Stacks. Dates from 1970.

HLAS Online (WWW)- The Handbook of Latin American Studies is a selective, annotated subject bibliography of journal articles and monographs in the humanities and social sciences. 1935-to date. The hardcopy is located in Reference. Available through the SPLAT home page at http://www.ukans.edu/~splat/ or at: http://lcweb2.loc.gov/hlas

LADB- Latin American Data Base (WWW) - An archive of over 23,000 recent and current full-text articles on Latin America, including Mexico, Central America, the Caribbean, and South America. News reports are synthesized from regional and international sources, mostly from newspaper reports and journal articles. Subjects covered include politics, economics, human rights, environment, drugs and military. Dates from 1986 and is updated quarterly.

Info-Latinoamerica (WWW) - Bibliographic database that covers business, economics, politics, and related social and cultural issues in Latin America. Many of its records, beginning with 1995, contain full text from the original source, the remainder include indexing and abstracts only. Info-Latinoamerica is compiled from over 1,500 leading international and domestic newspapers, journals, news magazines, newsletters, and other sources. Approximately 15,000 records are added per year. Dates from 1988.

Historical Abstracts (WWW) - Covers scholarly literature published between 1955 and the present. It indexes articles from over 2,100 (about 900 are published in the U.S.). Includes books reviews and dissertations. Materials in many languages are indexed. Updated quarterly.

GPO Monthly Catalog (First Search)- contains records for documents printed by the U.S. Government. It covers all types of documents, including Congressional reports, hearings, debates, judiciary materials, and documents issued by executive departments (Defense, State, Labor, Office of the President, etc.). 1976-present.

Columbia International Affairs Online - (CIAO) is a source for theory and research in international affairs. It publishes a wide range of scholarship from 1991 on that includes working papers from university research institutes, occasional papers series from NGOs, foundation-funded research projects, and proceedings from conferences.
