Committee Reports

SDC
Website is now publicly available and link is on the CCEB website. Reiterate the fact that this is an IS-WIDE committee.

DC
The Diversity Committee is planning the next movie in the Diversity Movie Series for next month. The film will be less than 45 min. long and we will use the remainder of the time to discuss issues surrounding the film.
We recently found some Diversity Committee archival information at the desk of a previous Diversity Committee member. We've done a preliminary sort of the materials to see what all we could find and discovered reference to many old programs done in the past. We feel a few of these would be good to do again so we are doing brainstorming for upcoming events. After we fully organize the Diversity Committee archives, we will be checking them in over at Spencer so we do not "lose" this information again.
A few of the ideas we came up with during a brainstorming session at yesterday's meeting include:
· A new series on Amazing Women at KU. We would like to have some of the Women of Distinction come and speak for us.
· An event on music differences across cultures.
· Better promotion of activities occurring around campus such as Pride week, Black history events, etc.
· Revival of the Cultural Feast.
· Collaboration with the International Student Services department.
We are also probably going to do another membership recruitment. This time, we are going to ask for people who would be willing to "specialize" in a certain area of Diversity Committee. We are looking for people who might be willing to assist on certain things for us who may not otherwise have time to be a full-fledged member of the committee. We would basically like some ad-hoc people who can be called on during times of need if we could use some extra sets of hands. We are also looking for people to be full-time members. We would like to stress that the Diversity Committee doesn't really require a certain time commitment of one or two years. If someone is able to help for a few months, we would really appreciate it!

Classified Senate
ACSP was passed in Senate and is now at the Governor’s desk as of Apr 1, 2005.

Executive Council mtg tomorrow will be voting on new members. (4 vacancies) No ballot since there were not enough nominations to justify. Goes to full Senate after that.

Gov proposed 2.5% Senate approved as was w/o education funding. House pushed 2.5% to March 2006. At compromise1.25% July and 1.25% December. Now waiting for Governor.

Parking prices will increase 20% and 20% over two years. Chancellor and Provost must approve. No guarantee that the next year’s commission will uphold this increase.

Confirm that Mary Ann will be on University Senate Committee on Libraries as the 2nd of her 2 year term.
