KU Libraries Welcome Nicholas Basbanes
Noted author and lecturer on books and aspects of book culture, Nicholas Basbanes, will join KU Libraries for two special events.
Basbanes was an award-winning investigative reporter during the early 1970s, and literary editor of the Worcester Sunday Telegram from 1978 to 1991. His first book, "A Gentle Madness: Bibliophiles, Bibliomanes and the Eternal Passion for Books," was a finalist for the National Book Critics Circle Award in nonfiction and was named a New York Times Notable Book of the Year in 1995.
Reception and book signing April 7
On Wednesday, April 7th, Vosper Society members are invited to join Basbanes for a meet-and-greet reception and book signing from 6:30pm-8:30pm at the Hancock Library in the Oread Inn. Complimentary valet parking will be available during the event.
Snyder Book Collecting Contest reception April 8
On Thursday, April 8th, Basbanes will be the keynote speaker at the 54th annual Snyder Book Collecting Contest. This event will be held on the third floor of Watson Library. Viewing of the the winning collections begins at 5:30pm with an awards presentation and address from Basbanes to follow. Wine and hors doeurves will be served.
