Former U.S. poet laureate and Pulitzer Prize winner Ted Kooser will read from his works at a University of Kansas Libraries event on Monday, April 12. The reading, which celebrates National Poetry Month, will be held at 7 p.m. at the Oread Inn. A special meet-and-greet reception open to Vosper Society members will precede the reading at 5:30 p.m.

The first library on the KU campus was Spooner Hall. You can learn about the history of this beautiful building from "Spooner Hall" (University of Kansas Press 2009). Please join us for a cocktail reception and opportunity to mingle with the authors, Carol Shankel and Barbara Watkins. Copies of the book will be available for purchase.

Dr. Steven Trout will speak on his forthcoming book, On the Battlefield of Memory: The First World War and American Remembrance, 1919-1941.
This exhibit features material from the Cultural Center at Haskell Indian Nations University; WWI recruitment posters from the Kansas Collection; maps, photos and letters from both the University Archives and the African American Collection in Spencer Research Library; circulating memoirs from the KU Libraries collections; electronic images from the Spencer Museum of Art's spring exhibition, Machine in a Void: World War I and the Graphic Arts and electronic images from the National World War I Museum.

Jay Jordan became the fourth president in OCLC's 43-year history in 1998. Under his leadership, OCLC has built a new technological platform, introduced new Web-scale services, created a library advocacy program and introduced new initiatives to make library holdings and libraries more visible on the open Web.
