Officially established on July 1, 1997. The Harvard Asia Center will be the focal point of interaction between the Harvard community and Asian intellectual, political, and business circles. It will be a neutral ground for those concerned with major developments in Asia to meet with each other and with experts at Harvard. The Asia Center will also serve as a catalyst for linking institutions within Asia. The Center will bring together faculty and students from all of Harvard's schools and Asia-related programs, and will reach out to scholars and students from around the world who study Asia so that they and we may work cooperatively and gain new perspectives in the study of the region.
