- The
Department of East Asian Languages and Cultures offers
instruction in elementary to advanced levels of Chinese
and Japanese, elementary levels of Korean, and aspects
of the cultures of all three nations. The faculty consists
of scholars of language, literature, and thought, supported
by a library of more than 170,000 volumes in Japanese
and Chinese, a museum with rare collections of Asian art,
and associated faculty members in disciplines such as
anthropology, art history, business, geography, history,
religion, and theater.
