Diversity committee notes from November 1st meeting
Present: Erin, Channette Michelle, Ana, Pamela, Julie
Discussion of video recordings list, ideas for a movie series. ‘Remember
the Titans’ suggested for first video shown. Other titles suggested
are ‘Common Threads’, ‘That’s a Family’ and
a few others that the library owns.
Pamela mentions a book, “Diversity in Libraries’ which outlines
programs of other universities. There may be video suggestions in there, too.
Erin and Channette talked a little bit about the upcoming trip to Emporia
State (Nov12) with Sharon B. and Scott Walter.
We discussed an email from Sherry W. which contained edited version of a
proposal for the ESU document (and recruitment documents in general), focusing
on wording (legalities, including statements from HR, being direct, etc).
Erin will (wants to) keep a notebook documenting all we write up and discuss.
More discussion about movie series, other videos will be shorter, but we’d
like to kickoff the series with a blockbuster movie. No exact date decided.
Talked about the website, such as it is. If a template is in place, Michelle
will maintain the site.
