Diversity Committee meeting notes
September 15th
Present: Erin, Sharon, Channette, Ana, Michelle, Pamela, Sherry, Julie
(I’ve discovered or initials can make the anagram CAMPJESS)
There will a diversity conference in Kansas City in mid-Oct. We need to check our individual schedules to see who can/wants to go.
Sharon handed out copies of the “KU Prohibits…” pamphlets (racial discrimination, etc)
Our trip to KSU will be Wed. Sept. 29th. Meet at the red parking lot South
of the library by 7:15 am (Erin will drive van, Pamela will be backup).
We will be joined by Scott Walter.
We had a conference call with Jean Darbyshire at K-State to work out an agenda
for our trip (tour Hale library, visit Dow MRC, talk to people who got various
programs into place, etc.)
We will take the latest ‘Profiles’ with us, which has a breakdown
of student (and staff?) demographics—we have more people of color than
KSU, they are interested in percentages.
We discussed taking the digital camera to document our visit and we will take along a KU phone book for contact information if the KSU folks have questions about other people/groups to contact at KU.
