DIVERSITY COMMITTEE NOTES
April 5, ‘04
Present: Erin, Channette, Julie
First off, we discussed the exhibit—Good job us! Erin reported that
there have been all positive responses, from what she’s heard. She
has also made a Power Point presentation of the exhibit, after taking
pictures. This can now be seen by all on the U drive (under ‘shared’
folders, then ‘Diversity Committee’).
We discussed goals for the upcoming year, which include: updating the
website, writing up an annual review (this has also been reported to the
Classified Conference Board), more workshops/Brown Bag presentations and
the upcoming conference in Atlanta. We would like to have more people
on the committee and will again put out the word.
As always, the goal of the committee is to continue to educate the library
staff in diversity education. We brainstormed some ideas for a brown bag
series of outstanding women in the KU community, and inviting student
groups from various cultures.
Later this month we would like to have a video brown bag, finding some titles from our own collection or (possibly for future video bb’s) from the KU student film department. We could supply popcorn in bags decorated with the Diversity logo. Ideas for movies/videos to view can be directed to Erin or Channette.
After the meeting, we went to Erin’s work area to view the Power Point presentation she made of the exhibit.
**Review of past year’s events were: Out on Campus brown bag, BeEtta Stoney from KSU, (winter) religious traditions bb, Patrons with Disabilities bb and the diversity exhibit from mid-March to mid-April **
