Diversity meeting notes for 4th April,’05
Present: Erin, Michelle, Ana, Pamela, Julie

Sharon Bullard is no longer with us. The new HR person, Donna Brewster will be our ex-officio, likely by our next meeting.

Videos—tabled for later discussion. Channette not present, no brainstorming at the moment.

In the previous month, Erin, Sherry and Sharon attended the Management Council meeting and presented the proposal about the residency program. Erin discussed how the meeting went and pointed out that money for the program would come from tuition enhancement, not the library budget. The program would be a two year residency, with a new person added every year, for overlap. There are interns already in place at the libraries, so this is specifically for a resident program. The timeline will ultimately be discussed with Stella.

Erin has gone through the box of the Diversity History and found lots of information, correspondence and flyers about the history of the committee and events that were held. These items were passed around as we discussed what could be useful in the near future (particularly the diversity/ethnic feast which was an event from the past which others would like to see happen again).

Michelle has been working on the website (and again it was mentioned how it would be nice to have it be public) and will start to incorporate the past Diversity Recipes. There have been requests for these to be available and updated.

Erin will send out an email inviting all library staff to join the committee, even if it’s for a subgroup or to help with one or two events.

Julie will gather some information to send out email (or send to Erin to email) about events to make staff aware of this month (ie; Pride Week, International student events, etc.)
