Diversity Committee Meeting notes 20th Feb. ‘05
Present: Erin, Channette, Michelle, Sharon, Julie

Short meeting.
Residency program discussed. It was suggested that we date and title which program we mean, to differentiate it from other University programs. This was about the 5th draft and we’re calling it done and submitting it to Stella.
There will be a meeting with her at some point about the proposal.

Brief discussion of the movie, ‘Remember the Titans’. It was a small turn out, but all who saw it enjoyed it. Channette will look into finding other movies to suggest for showing and send out a list (this is an ongoing brainstorm idea…anything that comes to mind, please email Channette or Erin.

Webpage is on the staff intranet, which somewhat defeats the purpose of having it be public, perhaps with a link from the main library page. Erin will talk to Jill G. about this. It would be preferable to at least list upcoming events for all to have access. (Diversity events, workshops/panels, other campus events).

Lars Leon has a box in his office marked “Diversity History”. Michelle and Erin will check it out.

March will be Sharon’s last meeting, as a new head of HR for the Libraries is being considered (although, we didn’t have one—a card was given to her which we all signed).

We discussed inviting others to join the diversity committee—sending out a library wide invitation. Perhaps asking other groups to co-sponsor events, or we could join with them (ie; SDC).
