Diversity Committee notes Jan. ‘06
Erin, Michelle, Channette, Julie present
Erin will look for and send out a “designation month” calendar
(Feb. African-American History, March. Women’s history, etc.)
We talked about more movies for the movie series, mostly feature films, such
as ‘Crash’, parts of ‘But I’m a Cheerleader’,
‘Skin Deep’ (not a feature, but a good film. We also talked about
Moccasins, Money & Murder. Michelle will try to ILL book. We would also
like to continue our reading series, but nothing specific was discussed. (I
can’t remember the context, but I have written down under that heading
’10 Commandments of Customer Service’ and something about cultural
differences with varieties of people).
Another idea for a future event would be to talk with some women’s athletes
at KU to get an idea of their perspective with expectations, treatment on
campus, etc. Current students and maybe Lynnette Woodard.
