The Mary McCorison Rosenbloom Teaching Award is made available biennially to an individual faculty or staff member of the KU Libraries who has designed and delivered an exemplary instructional service program during the course of the review period. The recipient of this award will be selected on the basis of documented excellence in library-based instructional services or information and technology literacy instruction delivered through partner programs or contribution to the instructional environment in the KU Libraries.
The award winner will receive a $750 instructional fund that may be used for reimbursement for instructional materials, travel, or hourly help for any teaching project (including research on teaching and learning).
Mary McCorison Rosenbloom was a member of the KU Libraries faculty from 1988 until her death in 2001. In recognition of her commitment to teaching and library instruction, her family, friends and colleagues have established a fund in her memory with the Kansas University Endowment Association. The Mary McCorison Rosenbloom Fund supports this award.
Criteria
The faculty and staff of the KU Libraries teach in a variety of venues and formats, including workshops, course-integrated instruction, Web-based instruction, and credit courses offered through academic departments and other partner programs. In addition, library instructors may provide instructional support to other faculty members through the development of instructional materials, assignments, or other mechanisms for the assessment of student learning in the area of information and technology literacy. The primary criteria for selection of the recipient of this award are the design and delivery of exemplary instruction in the area of information and technology literacy and contribution to the instructional environment in the KU Libraries during the 12-month period prior to the nomination.
Evidence of excellence in these areas will be provided through the completion of a teaching portfolio and through solicitation of reflective comments on the nominee's contributions from at least one (1) colleague from within or outside of the KU Libraries.
Eligibility
All full-time members of the faculty and staff of the KU Libraries who have completed at least one year of service to the Libraries are eligible for this award.

Selection
Each year the Dean of Libraries shall appoint a committee to review nominations and make a recommendation to the Dean. The Selection Committee will consist of the following members: three members of the Library Faculty Assembly (LFA), one member of the Libraries University Support Staff, one member of the teaching faculty, and one member of the library administration (ex officio, without vote). Neither a nominator nor any nominee is eligible to serve on the Selection Committee. In making its recommendation, the Selection Committee will apply the criteria stated in this description of the Award. All nominees will be informed of the Dean's planned action prior to the announcement of the award recipient.
All nomination materials will be considered confidential and will be retained in the personnel files held in the Library Administrative Office.
