Scanners

Nine PC workstations equipped with color scanners are available for use. Eight of the workstations have Windows XP, Microsoft Office suite, Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Adobe Acrobat and Endnote software and are equipped with Canon LIDE scanners, floppy drives and DVD-ROM/CD-RW drives. These eight workstations require users to log in with their KU Online IDs, and are networked to both the black-and-white and the color laser printers. Two portable ZIP drives (100MB and 250MB) are available for use with these workstations. The ZIP drives may be checked out at the service desk by students, faculty, and staff for 2 hours of in-library use.

The other scanner workstation has a large-format (11" x17") Microtek color scanner, Windows XP and Photoshop, floppy drive, CD-ROM drive, CD-RW drive, but no Microsoft Office suite. It is not networked to the laser printers, but has a stand-alone color inkjet printer. A KU Online ID is not required, but users must first ask at the circulation desk in order to use this scanner workstation.

Scanning may be done free of charge at any of the scanner workstations. Users must provide their own electronic media, with the exception of floppy disks, which may be purchased at the circulation desk for $1 each.
