Library Workstations with HP Scanners
Eight Dell Optiplex 990 workstations running Windows 7 and equipped with with HP Scanjet G3110 8 1/2" x 11" flatbed scanners and DVD-ROM/CD-RW drives are available for KU students, faculty and staff. A KU Online ID and password is required to log on. The workstations are primarily intended for academic activities. Users may check email or browse the web, but are asked to be considerate of others waiting to use the workstations for research purposes.
Scanning is free, but users must provide their own electronic media or storage devices to save scanned images. Printing is available from the MFD (multi-function device). Patrons must log on with a KU Online ID and have sufficient funds on their KU card account. Value can be added to the KU card account online or at the cash-to-card machine located in the Kansas Union near the Card Center. Express/Community Access Workstations
Two Express/Community Access workstations are available at the Art & Architecture Library for use by any visitor to the KU Libraries. Academic use has priority, and time-limiting software is installed to ensure equitable access to these workstations. Users must pre-register at the circulation desk and obtain a reservation ticket with a single-use PIN. Each reservation slot is for 30 minutes. The total time limit on use of Express/Community Access workstations is one hour per day. Printing is available from the MFD (multi-function device) for KU users who have a valid KU Card and funds in their account. Information about adding funds to a KU Card account can be found at http://www.kucard.ku.edu/recharge_card/. Non-KU patrons can purchase a Visitor Print/Copy Access Pass at the service desk which can be used for printing on the MFD. Large Format Scanner Workstation

This Dell Optiplex 755 workstation is for scanning purposes only. It has a large format (11" x17") Microtek color scanner, and a DVD-ROM/CD-RW drive. A KU Online ID is not required--ask at the circulation desk to be logged on to use this scanner workstation.
Scanning is free, but users must provide their own electronic media or storage devices to save their work. Printing to the MFD is available through Print From Anywhere.

Express Scanning Station

The Express Scanning Station is equipped with a Bookeye 4 overhead scanner which has an easy-to-use touch screen interface. The scanner can produce color or black-and-white images of materials up to 17” x 24” and is ideal for scanning large or fragile items. Features include auto focus and a cradle for use in scanning tightly bound books or books with glossy paper where glare is a problem. Images can be saved in a variety of digital formats including PDF and JPEG, and users have the option of emailing the scanned images to themselves or saving them to a USB flash drive. Printing is not available from the Express Scanning Station. Use of the scanner is free, and a KU Online ID is not required.
Catalog Search/Quick Print Station

The Catalog Search/Quick Print Station allows users to quickly perform a catalog search or print a document without having to log onto a workstation. Usage is limited to five minutes or less. In order to print, users must provide a KU Online ID and password when prompted, and must have sufficient funds on their KU cards, or a Visitor Print/Copy Access Pass.
